Dr. William Scott is Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University's School of Public Policy, specializing in environmental economics, climate policy, and energy systems modeling. His research analyzes decarbonization trade-offs between environmental, economic, and social objectives. He holds a PhD and M.Sc. in Economics from Stanford University, where he received the Gerald J Lieberman Fellowship.
Dr. Scott's current work examines policy interactions in climate governance, mitigation policy inventories, and distributional impacts of carbon pricing. His research has appeared in Energy Policy and Climate Policy, been featured in Nature Climate Change, and informed testimony before the Canadian Senate. He previously worked at the University of Ottawa's Smart Prosperity Institute and UN Environment Programme.
