William Rupp is an Associate Professor and Senior Tutor at the University of Warwick’s School for Cross-faculty Studies. He holds roles as Director of Postgraduate Taught Programmes in Liberal Arts and Adjustments and Disabilities Officer. His qualifications include a Hon.BA in History and Political Science (University of Toronto), MA in History (Wilfrid Laurier University), PhD in History (Warwick), and Postgraduate Award in Technology Enhanced Learning (Warwick). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His research focuses on 18th-century British identity formation through travel diaries, emphasizing sub-national identities often excluded from traditional narratives. He explores how travel writing shapes cultural and personal identities, informed by New Historicist and Annales School methodologies. Teaching interests include pedagogy, constructive alignment, and interdisciplinary approaches, reflected in courses like IP101: Principles and Praxis and IP122: Revolution!.
He has contributed to outreach programs like UniTracks and international partnerships via the Monash-Warwick Alliance. Awards include the Royal Society of Arts Fellowship and Senior Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. His work spans historical scholarship, educational innovation, and student wellbeing advocacy through roles like Residential Life Team member and local school governor.
