Gavin Schwartz-Leeper is an Associate Professor at the University of Warwick's School for Cross-faculty Studies. He holds dual citizenship and academic qualifications from Bard College at Simon's Rock (BA), University of Sheffield (MA and PhD), and various teaching certifications. His research focuses on early modern historiography, particularly Cardinal Wolsey and Richard Grafton, alongside pedagogical innovations in liberal arts education. He has held roles including Director of Undergraduate Studies for Warwick's Liberal Arts program and Deputy Dean of Students. His work intersects Renaissance literature, manuscript studies, and higher education policy. Notable publications include From Princes to Pages (2016) and articles on Cavendish and Richard II. Awards include Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Fellowships from the Royal Historical Society and Royal Society of Arts. He currently chairs the Academic Freedom Review Committee and serves on University Senate/Council. His teaching and supervision emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to perception, power, and historical representation.

Research interests span Tudor print culture, Reformation religious writings, and radical pedagogies. Current projects include analyses of historical simulation games' impact on historical perception and governance of academic freedom. He has supervised Brit Pickering on hate crimes in HE and collaborates internationally through the Monash-Warwick Alliance.
His op-eds and panels address interdisciplinary education and policy, including critiques of UK Teaching Excellence Framework reforms. He leads initiatives on labor migration history and apocalypticism studies, bridging early modern studies with contemporary cultural analysis.
