William Perrine is a Senior Lecturer at Kent State University's Department of Fashion Design & Merchandising within the College of the Arts. He teaches courses on social justice in the apparel industry, Photoshop/Illustrator, and global apparel economics. He advises the Kent State Fashion Students Organization (FSO), a longstanding campus group established in 1983. His research focuses on social justice in fashion, sustainable consumption, and international industry dynamics. He has taught at Western Michigan University, Iowa State University, and Izmir University of Economics, and has retail experience with Sears, Limited Inc., and visual merchandising roles in Turkey and the U.S.
Education: PhD (Iowa State University, 2005 dissertation on Gen Y’s Fair Trade attitudes), M.A. (Western Michigan University, store preferences of Turkish consumers), B.A. (Dominican University).
He engages with media through National Public Radio’s fashion segments, Crain’s Cleveland Business, and TV appearances on career dressing strategies. His professional activities include advising on the Fashion/Tech Hack-a-thon and operating Kent State’s TechStyleLab with Stoll knitting machines.
