Dr. Amy Petrinec is Interim Associate Dean and Professor in Kent State University's College of Nursing. Her research examines stress and coping in family members of ICU patients, with focus on psychological symptoms during and after critical care hospitalizations. She develops interventions to support family caregivers and investigates longitudinal outcomes in intensive care and long-term acute care settings.
Awards include Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award and Sigma Theta Tau Research Award. Current studies investigate mental health app interventions for post-intensive care syndrome and psychometric evaluation of caregiver assessment tools.
