William Orchard

William Orchard is an Associate Professor of English and Director of Graduate Studies at Queens College, City University of New York. His research focuses on Latinx cultural expressions, particularly graphic narratives and queer studies, exploring how these forms challenge mainstream literary conventions. He is the author of Other Ways of Seeing: The Lessons of Latinx Comics (under contract) and co-editor of volumes like Borders, Bridges, and Breaks. His work interrogates intersections of race, sexuality, and representation in literature and media. He serves on the MLA’s Comics and Graphic Narratives forum and organizes the Colloquium for the Study of Latinx Culture and Theory. His teaching emphasizes connecting literature to contemporary social issues, such as racialized childhood and queer Latinx histories.
