Lesk’s research focuses on the intersection of graphic novels, queer theory, and national literatures. He explores how comics negotiate cultural, political, and gendered identities, often analyzing works with postcolonial and feminist frameworks. His publications address topics like the pathologization of psychiatry in comics, urban representation in Canadian graphic narratives, and the role of fragmentation in gendered narratives.
Recent publications highlight his work in queer theory and comics analysis, including studies on Jim Woodring’s semiotics, Chester Brown’s historical narratives, and intersections of desire and cultural critique in postcolonial literature. His editorial contributions further underline his commitment to advancing graphic novel studies and queer cultural discourse.
