Dr. Marion Christina Rohrleitner is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), part of the College of Liberal Arts. She holds a PhD in English from the University of Notre Dame. Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century American literatures, with emphases on Chicanx/Latinx literatures, Caribbean diaspora studies, and the intersection of ethnic American literature with historiography and visual culture. She also explores translation studies, affect theory, and queer theory.
Her major works include Dialogues Across Diasporas: Women Writers, Scholars, and Activists of Africana and Latina Descent in Conversation (2012, co-edited with Sarah E. Ryan) and Haitian Revolutionary Fictions (2022, co-authored with Marlene L. Daut and Grégory Pierrot). Currently, she is finalizing a monograph titled Transnational Latinidades, examining the transnational dimensions of Latinx literary production in the EU.
Rohrleitner teaches courses on American literature (1865–present), Chicanx literature, Caribbean literature, and world literature. She actively participates in academic organizations, serving as president of the MLA’s LLC Latina and Latino Forum Executive Committee. Her work bridges interdisciplinary scholarship, addressing themes of border crossings, cultural translation, and the politics of representation.
