Dr. William Mullen is a Full Professor of Communication Studies and Chair of the Department of Communication Studies at Shorter University, Rome, Georgia. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, specializing in Rhetorical Criticism, Organizational Communication, and Classical Greek. His professional teaching career spans over 35 years, including roles at Liberty University, Pueblo Community College, and Colorado Christian University. His research focuses on rhetorical analysis, pedagogy, and communication ethics, with notable works on self-disclosure, group dynamics, and media literacy.
Education: Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (with a dissertation on John Chrysostom’s sermons), M.Div. from Grace Theological Seminary, and B.A. in Biblical Studies from Grace College of the Bible.
Research interests include rhetorical criticism, communication pedagogy, organizational communication, and the integration of faith and learning. His publications emphasize creative teaching methods, conflict resolution, and the application of communication theories to real-world contexts. He has presented at numerous conferences, including the National Communication Association and Religious Communication Association, focusing on topics like service learning, classroom civility, and nonverbal communication.
