William McShane is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Management at the American University of Paris (AUP). He specializes in corporate finance, international financial markets, and entrepreneurial finance. His research focuses on mergers and acquisitions, startups, and financial spillovers. McShane holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Otto von Guericke University and the Halle Institute for Economic Research (2023), an M.Sc. in International Economics and Finance from Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg (2017), and a B.A. in Psychology from Beloit College (2015). His work has been published in multiple IWH Discussion Papers and Online series, addressing topics like tax incentives for startups, post-crisis economic dynamics, and banking sector resilience during the Corona recession.
McShane teaches courses including Corporate Finance, International Financial Markets, and Entrepreneurial Finance. His research explores cross-firm interactions, financial policy effects, and the long-term impacts of economic shocks.
