معرفی
William Maslanka is a Research Associate in the King’s Earth Observation and Wildfire Research Group at King’s College London. He specializes in Earth Observation Science, focusing on fire radiative energy and trace gas emissions from high-latitude wildfires using satellite data. His work integrates multi-satellite observations and remote sensing techniques to address environmental challenges.
Education:
- PhD in Atmospheres, Ocean, and Climate (University of Reading)
- MMet in Meteorology (University of Reading, with a year at University of Oklahoma, USA)
Research Focus:
His research spans radar and passive microwave remote sensing, including snow slab properties in the Arctic, soil moisture dynamics, and fire emissions modeling. He has contributed to developing semi-empirical models for snowpack analysis and investigates the impact of vegetation types on soil moisture measurements.
Affiliations:
- Member of the King’s Earth Observation and Wildfire (NCEO) Research Group
- Associated with the Geocomputation and Data Science Research Hub
Prior Roles:
- Postdoctoral Research Assistant, University of Reading (LANDWISE project)
- Monitoring and Flood Forecasting Team Member, Environment Agency
