William Marvin is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Colorado State University (CSU). His academic focus is Medieval Literature & Language (Germanic), with specialization in Germanic antiquity and Indo-European mythology. He holds a B.A. in German Literature from the University of Denver and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. His research includes studies on hunting law in medieval texts and migration-age European mythologies, published in Hunting Law and Ritual in Medieval English Literature (2006).
Teaching areas span Old English, Beowulf, Chaucer, Germanic epic, and Shakespeare. He maintains a unique personal style, reflecting his Texas roots with a lifelong motorbike rider identity.
Formerly taught at Carleton College and conducted research in Tübingen, Germany, focusing on philology and contributing to the Historisches Wörterbuch der Rhetorik.
