Dr. William Marler is an Assistant Professor at the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences (Communication and Cognition Department), Tilburg University. His work focuses on digital communication, social support systems, and technology use among marginalized populations such as homeless youth and older adults. He actively teaches courses like Methodology for PM CIS, Digital Inequality, Social Media: Risks & Opportunities, and Research Interview (Fall).
Research interests center on digital disparities, exploring how mobile media and internet use impact vulnerable groups. Key projects include 'Digital Futures for Multilingual Education' and 'Digital Integration of Refugees into the Netherlands' (2024–2025), emphasizing equitable education and refugee integration through technology.
He organized the 4th TSHD Digital Identities Symposium in 2024 and serves as a Guest Editor for Mobile Media & Communication. His recent work shows how digital tools can both aid and challenge social connectedness in contexts like pandemic isolation or homelessness.
