Roles & Affiliations: Sara Pabian is an Assistant Professor at Tilburg University’s Department of Communication and Cognition (TSHD). She is affiliated with the Tilburg School of Humanities and Digital Sciences. Her work focuses on online aggression, cyberbullying, and hate speech, with additional expertise in social media influencers and digital communication strategies.
Education: PhD in Communication Sciences (2015) from the University of Antwerp, with a thesis titled 'A developmental perspective on personal and situational predictors and outcomes of adolescent cyberbullying perpetration: A longitudinal examination.'
Research Interests: Dr. Pabian investigates online aggression dynamics across age groups, including cyberbullying perpetration and victimization. She explores long-term consequences of childhood/adolescent cyberbullying and develops technological interventions. Her work also addresses bystander behavior in hate speech scenarios and the role of influencers in health promotion. Recent studies highlight age-specific strategies for older adults (66+) engaging in online aggression.
Collaborations: Actively seeks collaborations on longitudinal, experimental, and qualitative studies on online aggressive behavior. Involved in EU-funded projects like TABASCO (anti-bullying initiatives).
Teaching: Teaches courses in Business Communication and Digital Media (BDM track), including 'Internal Communication,' 'Social Media: Risks & Opportunities,' and research methodology courses.
