William Katerberg is a Professor of History and Curator of Heritage Hall at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He also serves as Director of the Mellema Program in Western American Studies, with offices in Hiemenga 472.
- Education: B.A. from Redeemer University College, M.A. from Calvin College, M.A./Ph.D. from Queen’s University
Research Interests focus on the North American West, Native American history, Dutch North American history, immigration policy, and digital humanities. His Origins magazine and blog explore these themes through re-photography projects like Calvin's Madison campus documentation.
Current Projects include a book co-authored with Carol Higham on Senator Henry L. Dawes and his daughter Anna Laurens Dawes, analyzing early Native American assimilation policies. His academic work intersects with archival curation at Heritage Hall, which serves as the university's historical archives.
