Geert E. Heetebrij serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at Calvin University since 2015, specializing in film production, screenwriting, and media studies with a focus on religious themes in cinema.
Educational background includes a BA in Philosophy and Art from Calvin College (1993) and an M.F.A. from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television (2014), where he completed the Screenwriting Program.
His research examines Christian allegory and biblical representation in film, particularly analyzing religious symbolism in classic and contemporary cinema. Creative works demonstrate expertise in narrative structure across feature films, documentaries, and digital media formats.
