William J. Davis

Dr. William J. Davis is a Professor and Department Head of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering at The Citadel's School of Engineering in Charleston, SC. He joined the faculty in August 1997. With a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Georgia Tech (1997), M.S. from Auburn University (1987), and B.S. from the University of Alabama (1981), he is a licensed Professional Engineer in Georgia and Alabama. His expertise spans infrastructure resilience, transportation planning/design, traffic engineering, highway safety, and GIS applications.

Dr. Davis teaches courses including capstone engineering design, transportation engineering, and land surveying. His research focuses on sustainable transportation infrastructure management, urban development impacts, and promoting active living through built environment design. He actively contributes to professional organizations such as the Transportation Research Board, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Institute of Transportation Engineers.
