William H. Beaver (1940–2024) was the Joan E. Horngren Professor of Accounting, Emeritus at Stanford Graduate School of Business. He pioneered research on financial statement impacts on security prices and business failure prediction models.
Research Legacy: Developed foundational models using financial ratios to predict corporate bankruptcy and examined market responses to accounting disclosures. Authored influential work on government regulation of corporate financial reporting.
