Daniel Taylor is the Arthur Andersen Chaired Professor of Accounting at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he serves as director of the Wharton Forensic Analytics Lab. His research focuses on corporate disclosures, insider trading, and fraud prediction, with significant impact on regulatory policy including influencing SEC rule changes related to Form 144 filings, Rule 10B5-1, and the Holding Foreign Insiders Accountable Act.
Professor Taylor received his bachelor's degree from University of Delaware, master's from Duke University, and PhD from Stanford University. His research has been published in leading academic journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, and Management Science, with numerous papers examining how corporate insiders exploit disclosure opportunities and regulatory loopholes for personal gain.
His recent research portfolio reveals a consistent focus on financial market integrity, with publications examining investor conferences as vehicles for managerial opportunism, the information content of corporate websites, foreign insider trading practices, and the relationship between SEC investigations and insider trading. As director of the Wharton Forensic Analytics Lab, Professor Taylor leads research applying state-of-the-art analytic tools to corporate disclosures, with the lab's mission focused on creating and disseminating new tools and technologies to academics and private sector partners, academic research to media and regulators, and teaching materials to current and prospective students.
