William Gallagher is a Professor of Law and Faculty Chair at Golden Gate University School of Law. He directs the IP Law Program & IP Law Center, teaching courses on intellectual property law, litigation, torts, and legal ethics. He was a Visiting Scholar at UC Berkeley's Center for the Study of Law and Society in 2009-2010 and 2015. His educational background includes a PhD in Jurisprudence and Social Policy from UC Berkeley, a JD from UCLA, an MA from University of Chicago, and a BA from UC Berkeley.

His publications include articles in Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal, Law and Social Inquiry, and Pepperdine Law Review, covering topics like trademark enforcement, copyright in digital contexts, and legal ethics. He co-founded the Collaborative Research Network on IP Law and Policy for the Law and Society Association.
