William Dupont serves as an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) at the University of Burgundy's Faculty of Sports Science, affiliated with the INSERM U1093 CAPS research unit. His work bridges cognitive neuroscience and sensorimotor processing through advanced neuroimaging and brain stimulation techniques.
Education:
- PhD in Neurosciences, University of Burgundy (2019-2022)
- Master 2 in Adapted Physical Activities and Health, University of Burgundy (2018-2019)
- Master 1 in Adapted Physical Activities and Health, University of Burgundy (2017-2018)
- Bachelor in Sport Science, University of Burgundy (2017)
Dr. Dupont investigates the dynamic interplay between cognition and action, specializing in how action language, motor imagery, and action observation engage the sensorimotor system. His research employs TMS, EEG, iEEG, and fMRI to examine corticospinal excitability and neural representations, with applications in sports training optimization and neurorehabilitation programs. Key focus areas include cognitive-motor plasticity, motor function assessment, and the impact of conditions like aphantasia on simulation processes.
His 2021-2024 publications reveal consistent exploration of motor simulation mechanisms, particularly how semantic context influences neural processing during action language comprehension. Recent work demonstrates impaired motor simulations in aphantasia and examines mental practice effects on cerebellar-motor cortex connectivity, establishing strong connections between cognitive neuroscience, linguistics, and rehabilitation science.
Dr. Dupont contributes to the CAPS (Cognition, Action, and Plasticity in Sports) research unit at University of Burgundy and previously collaborated with Grenoble Alpes University's Laboratory of Psychology and NeuroCognition during his LAMI project postdoctoral fellowship. His teaching portfolio includes Anatomy, Statistics, Neuroscience, Neurorehabilitation, Cognitive-Motor Plasticity, and Motor Function Assessment.
