Dr. William Collier is a Senior Professor of Chemistry at Oral Roberts University (ORU). His research focuses on vibrational spectroscopy of biologically significant and energy-related molecules, and he has developed computational tools like FCART06 and THERPOLY to aid spectral analysis. He co-founded the ORU Honors Program's Philosophy of Science seminar, bridging Christian worldview and scientific inquiry. Dr. Collier holds a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry and Molecular Spectroscopy from Oklahoma State University and has conducted research globally, including stints in Hungary (via Fulbright and Cooperative Studies Fellowships) and China. He is dedicated to improving scientific communication for non-native English speakers and has collaborated with institutions in Ukraine and China.
- Education: Ph.D., Physical Chemistry and Molecular Spectroscopy, Oklahoma State University
His research interests include molecular spectroscopy applications in energy and biology, computational chemistry, and the integration of faith and science. He has received notable awards, including Fulbright and NSF grants, and has conducted fieldwork across multiple countries. Dr. Collier actively mentors international students and emphasizes the transformative potential of science education. He co-teaches interdisciplinary courses on science philosophy and advocates for science as a means to serve global communities.
- Awards: Fulbright Fellowship (1997), NSF-ROA Award (2001)
Outside academia, he balances family life with interests in camping, fly-fishing, and music. His philosophy emphasizes the harmony between faith and scientific pursuit, stating, 'Christ in you is the hope of glory.'
