معرفی
William Chang, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Nephrology) at Yale School of Medicine. His research focuses on kidney tissue engineering, vascular biology, and regenerative medicine. He earned his MD and PhD from New York University and a BA in Biology from Harvard University. His work includes developing kidney organoid models using amniotic membrane scaffolds and studying pericyte-endothelial interactions in vascular networks. Notable achievements include winning the Kidney X Artificial Kidney Prize (2023) and being a Yale Blavatnik Fund semifinalist (2019).
Research Interests: His lab explores kidney organoid development, tissue engineering strategies for renal repair, and vascular network formation. Key areas include bioreactor systems, scaffold optimization, and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing in endothelial cells.
Publications Highlight: Over 20 peer-reviewed articles since 2003, with recent work on kidney organoid scaffolds (2020) and pericyte roles in microvascular networks (2020). Articles emphasize interdisciplinary approaches combining cell biology, bioengineering, and clinical nephrology.
Awards: Recognized for contributions to regenerative medicine, including the 2021 Invited Panelist role at the Charles H. Hood Foundation and junior faculty awards from Yale (2012).
Advising: Mentored students like Fatemeh Asghari (postdoc) and Zeki Tan (undergraduate), focusing on vascular tissue engineering and renal regeneration. Collaborates with departments like Vascular Biology and Therapeutics Program.
Labs/Teams: Active in Yale’s Vascular Biology Program and regenerative medicine initiatives, contributing to projects like the Kidney X Prize-winning artificial kidney design.
