Professor William Cartwright is an Honorary Professor at the School of Science, RMIT University. His research focuses on geomatic engineering, cartography, web mapping, and the synergies between art and cartography. He has contributed extensively to the field through publications in the International Journal of Cartography and other leading journals, exploring topics such as cartographic history, multimedia applications, and interdisciplinary approaches to mapping.
His academic career includes roles in editorial leadership, such as co-editing anniversary issues of the International Journal of Cartography. He actively participates in international conferences like the International Cartographic Association meetings, contributing to discussions on spatial data visualization and geographic information systems.
Professor Cartwright’s teaching interests emphasize the integration of interactive media in geography education and the design of web-based mapping tools. He is open to supervising Masters and PhD students in these areas.
