معرفی
William A. Weiss is a Professor at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), specializing in neuro-oncology, cancer biology, and developmental therapeutics. His research focuses on glioma, medulloblastoma, and neuroblastoma, with particular emphasis on genetic drivers like MYCN and EGFR, cancer stem cells, and targeted therapies. He leads multiple NIH-funded projects exploring mechanisms of therapeutic resistance and innovative treatment strategies.
- Education: BS in Biology, Tufts University (1982); MD/PhD in Medicine/Cancer Biology, Stanford University (1989).
Research Interests include:
- Genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of neural cancers
- Cancer stem cell biology and tumor microenvironment interactions
- Targeted therapies for MYC/MYCN-driven tumors
- Immuno-oncology approaches for pediatric brain cancers
- Development of genetically humanized models for preclinical testing
- Translational control and kinase signaling in tumor progression
Recent publication trends highlight his work on chromatin remodeling in medulloblastoma, MYC phase separation dynamics, immunomodulatory strategies, and 3D genome topology as a biomarker. His awards include prestigious grants from NIH, ALSF, Burroughs Wellcome, and the Sydney Kimmel Scholar Award. As a co-founder of novel mouse models and humanized systems, he has significantly advanced understanding of tumor initiation and therapeutic resistance.
