Will Wilkinson is a part-time Lecturer in the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the University of Surrey. He coordinates the first-year module VMS1003 'Cells and Genes in Context' and teaches topics including reproduction, histology, neurology, and clinical skills. His roles include membership in the Employability Working Group, 'Faith and Belief' representative on the Ethnicity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Committee, and Academic Integrity Officer (AIO) for the VSM.
Qualifications include a BSc (Hons) in Bioveterinary Science (University of Liverpool, 2011), BVetMed from the Royal Veterinary College (2015), and a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching (GCLT, 2022), which granted his FHEA. Prior to academia, he worked in small animal veterinary practice and managed a sheep flock. He also taught conservation modules at Merrist Wood College (2020).
Research and professional interests span veterinary education, animal welfare, and conservation science. Beyond academia, he serves on the RCVS Council, volunteers in watersports instruction, and maintains a beekeeping business ('Wilco's Bees'). His hobbies include army reserves work, shearing sheep, and creating 'terrible jokes' for students and family.
Awards include FHEA and MRCVS. He actively contributes to institutional committees and community initiatives, balancing clinical locum work with academic responsibilities.
