Wibke Straube is a Senior Lecturer and researcher at Karlstad University's Centre for Gender Studies, and serves as research coordinator for GEXcel International Collegium. Her work bridges transgender studies, environmental humanities, and feminist posthumanities, focusing on trans subjectivity, environmental pollution, and non-human relations. She leads projects like Trans*Creative (Kone Foundation, 2020–2024) and has collaborated on studies such as Trans health in Värmland (Region Värmland, 2020–2023). Her doctoral thesis from Linköping University (2014) analyzes trans cinema through a transfeminist lens.
Education: PhD in Gender Studies (Linköping University, 2014), MA in Gender and Media Studies (University of Sussex, 2002).
Research Interests: Straube’s work explores intersections of trans identities with environmental crises, art, and health. Key themes include endocrine-disrupting chemicals, trans health equity, and the aesthetics of contamination in performance art. She advocates for collaborative, activist-driven knowledge production.
