Whitney Lynn is an Associate Professor in the Photo/Media + New Genres division at the School of Art + Art History + Design, University of Washington. She teaches courses in conceptual art, installation, and post-studio practices. Previously, she taught at Stanford University, the San Francisco Art Institute, and UC Berkeley.

Her research explores the role of images in myth, power, and desire, with projects addressing the femme fatale archetype, floral art subversion, and site-specific interventions. She has exhibited internationally at the SF MoMA, Torrance Art Museum, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Notable public works include installations at the San Diego International Airport and Seattle’s Burke-Gilman Trail.

Her practice spans interdisciplinary media, emphasizing material culture and visual literacy. Current projects investigate perceptual traps and shifting depictions of forbidden knowledge through video, installation, and performance.
