Dr Werner Leber is a NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care and practicing General Practitioner at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London. His work bridges clinical practice and academic research, focusing on early infectious disease identification in primary care settings. He leads the Target-ID project—a collaboration with The Hepatitis C Trust, Positive East, and multiple universities—to develop machine learning tools for blood-borne virus detection. His research includes groundbreaking studies like the RHIVA series (HIV screening efficacy) and REAP studies (SARS-CoV-2 testing accuracy in Austria).
