Sumita Verma is a Professor of Hepatology at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and an Honorary Consultant in Hepatology at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. She specializes in clinical and experimental medicine, with a focus on liver disease management, hepatitis C elimination, and palliative care for end-stage liver disease patients.

Notable contributions include the REDUCe2 trial comparing abdominal drain vs. paracentesis for refractory ascites and seminal studies on autoimmune hepatitis outcomes.
