Prof. Dr.-Ing. Werner Homberg is Chair holder and Vice Dean at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Paderborn. He leads Subproject C03 "Forming and Machining Technology" within Collaborative Research Center Transregio 285 and serves as Dean of Research at the Institute for Lightweight Construction with Hybrid Systems (ILH).
Research focus areas:
- Deep drawing process optimization with intrinsic lubrication
- Modular 3D roller straightening systems for spring steel wires
- Forming-based manufacturing of lightweight joining elements
- Tool life improvement in thermomechanical forming
- Flow forming of metastable austenitic steel with phase transformation monitoring
Recent publications demonstrate expertise in advanced forming technologies, hybrid material processing, and sensor-based monitoring systems. His work addresses both theoretical process understanding and practical implementation for sustainable manufacturing solutions.
