Wenjing Sun

Dr. Wenjing Sun is a Lecturer in Acoustics at the University of Southampton, specializing in railway dynamics and noise reduction. She joined the Dynamics Group in 2024 and focuses on addressing challenges related to vibration, noise, and fatigue in railway systems using modeling, experimentation, and AI technology. Her research interests include rolling noise, railway vehicle dynamics, and indirect rail/wheel roughness measurement via AI.

Dr. Sun earned her PhD and held roles as a postdoctoral researcher, Lecturer, and Associate Professor at Tongji University (China) since 2014. She currently teaches undergraduate and master's courses in Railway Engineering, Mechanics, and Noise Control Engineering. She is actively accepting PhD students and collaborates on projects like the Horizon Europe-funded QuieterRail initiative, aiming to advance railway noise mitigation technologies.

Her recent publications span AI-driven wheel polygonization detection, energy harvesting in railways, and vibration control methodologies. She has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed articles, reflecting her expertise in interdisciplinary applications of dynamics and acoustics.
