Associate Professor Wengui Li is a Scientia Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNSW Sydney, specializing in intelligent/smart concrete and sustainable construction materials. His research focuses on multifunctional concrete technologies, including self-sensing, self-healing, and low-carbon solutions. He holds an ARC Future Fellowship (2022) and has secured over $30M in grants, including ARC Linkage Projects and international collaborations.
Education: Joint PhD from Tongji University and Northwestern University (2013). Research areas include smart concrete, recycled aggregate materials, concrete nanotechnology, and CO2 mineralization. He leads the ICIM research group, advancing infrastructure resilience through nanotechnology and sustainable practices.
Grants: Active projects include photocatalytic coatings for emissions reduction and hydrophobic concrete for mining infrastructure. Completed projects involve self-healing concrete and waste glass utilization.
