Wendy Stone

Wendy Stone is a Professor of Housing & Social Policy at Swinburne University of Technology's Centre for Urban Transitions, leading the HHAUS research group and directing the AHURI-Swinburne Research Centre. Her work focuses on housing policy, urban inequalities, and social wellbeing. She holds a PhD from Swinburne (2010), MA from the University of Melbourne (1996), and BA (Honours) from the Australian National University (1993).

Research Interests: Wendy specializes in housing innovations, generational housing precarity, and policy formulation. Her work bridges academic and applied research, addressing issues like youth housing barriers, aging populations, and systemic inequities in housing access. Key themes include social policy design, urban planning, and the intersection of housing with family wellbeing.

Grants & Collaborations: Funded by AHURI, ARC, and organizations like YWCA Australia and HAAG. Recent projects include studies on young people’s housing challenges and older Australians’ housing insecurity. Collaborates with institutions like the Australian Institute of Family Studies and AHURI.
