Wendy Norris is Assistant Professor of Social Computing in the Mathematics and Data Science Department at Nazareth University, where she co-leads the Ethical Data Science program and serves as core faculty in the Institute for Responsible Technology. Her research examines how computational systems can address societal challenges during crises.
Research integrates social computing principles with crisis informatics to develop human-centered approaches for disaster response. Focus areas include distributed humanitarian coordination, temporal sensemaking in emergency contexts, and combating misinformation through data verification techniques. Fieldwork in Vanuatu informs her work on natural hazard response systems.
Teaching emphasizes project-based learning in programming, AI ethics, and equitable data analysis, enabling students to develop portfolio-worthy applications from chatbots to environmental monitoring systems.
