Wendy Marie Cumming-Potvin is a Professor and Research Director at Murdoch University’s School of Education. Her work focuses on diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, with a specialization in LGBTQI+ advocacy and allyship. She has over 20 years of experience spanning classroom teaching to doctoral supervision, emphasizing collaborative approaches with communities to create equitable learning environments.
Her research has been disseminated globally through books, peer-reviewed journals, and creative outputs. Notably, she authored *LGBTQI+ Allies in Education, Advocacy, Activism, and Participatory Collaborative Research* (Routledge, 2023). She actively contributes to organizations like Out for Australia, GLBT Rights in Aging Inc., and the Ally Collective at Murdoch University.
Her recent work examines allyship dynamics, intersectionality, and systemic barriers facing LGBTQI+ communities, particularly transgender individuals and Indigenous populations. She advocates for policy reforms and trans-affirming educational practices, as seen in her 2024 article on allyship’s historical and future trajectories.
