Dr. Wendy Makoons Geniusz is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at York University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. She is an Indigenous scholar of Cree and Métis descent, raised with Ojibwe language and cultural traditions. Her work focuses on decolonizing frameworks for Indigenous language and cultural revitalization. Previously, she served as Professor of Ojibwe Language at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for 14 years.
