Maria Hupfield

Maria Hupfield is an Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair cross-appointed to Visual Studies at the University of Toronto. Her work centers on Transdisciplinary Indigenous Arts, Performance Art, and Collaborative Practices, with a focus on Anishinaabe methodology, Indigenous storytelling, and land-based practices.

Her creative practice includes handmade wearable art that merges industrial felt with vibrant materials like surveyor tape and satin ribbon, used in live performances to explore body rhythms and sensory experiences.
