Christina Chakanyuka is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria and a doctoral candidate specializing in Indigenous health equity. As a Métis scholar from Fort Smith, NT (Treaty 8 territory), her work centers on decolonizing nursing education and practice.
She co-stewards the Indigenous Initiatives Committee and promotes Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) frameworks across nursing programs. Her research examines cultural safety and anti-racist practices in healthcare education.
Chakanyuka co-leads an intergenerational Indigenous mentorship circle and collaborates with Dr. Lisa Bourque Bearskin on Indigenous health research initiatives. Her scholarship integrates Dene, Cree, and Métis knowledge systems with settler academic traditions.
