Dr. Wendy Lawrence is an Associate Professor of Health Psychology within the Medicine department at the University of Southampton. She holds Chartered Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society and is HCPC-registered. Her research focuses on public health interventions, behavior change strategies, and maternal/child nutrition. She leads projects like the WRAPPED supermarket intervention and the ImpENSA technology-enabled behavior change initiative in South Africa. Lawrence has received prestigious awards including the British Psychological Society’s Associate Fellowship (2015) and the University of Southampton’s Role Model Award (2018).
Her work spans nutrition policy evaluation, pandemic-era health interventions for older adults, and global health projects in Africa. She collaborates with organizations like the UK Society for Behavioural Medicine and has advised on public health matters during the pandemic. Current research emphasizes community engagement strategies in nutrition programs across multiple countries. Lawrence supervises PhD students such as Preeti Dhuria and actively publishes in journals like BMC Medicine and PLOS ONE.
