Wendy L. Greenidge

Dr. Wendy L. Greenidge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling at Lamar University with over 15 years of experience in the field of mental health counseling. She holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida and is a licensed mental health counselor with multiple certifications including LMHC, NCC, and CFM. As a Fulbright Scholar alumna, she brings significant international expertise to her work in counseling education and practice.

Her research focuses on increasing utilization of professional counseling services through culturally appropriate interventions, with particular emphasis on the psycho-cultural correlates of help-seeking in international populations. Dr. Greenidge also investigates counselor wellness, play therapy, family counseling, and the integration of technology and expressive therapies in counseling practice.

Dr. Greenidge's publication record spans from 2005 to present, showing consistent scholarly productivity with a focus on culturally responsive counseling, help-seeking behaviors (particularly among Caribbean populations), and innovative approaches to counselor education. Her work demonstrates a strong commitment to addressing barriers to mental health services and developing culturally appropriate interventions.

Dr. Greenidge has extensive experience mentoring students and has served in numerous leadership roles including CACREP liaison, IRB board member, and faculty advisor for student organizations. Her clinical background includes diverse settings such as inpatient facilities, outpatient programs, school counseling, and family agencies, with particular expertise working with children and families.
