Wendy Gers is a Researcher at the Art & Sustainability Research Centre within the Art & Society school at Hanze University of Applied Sciences. She holds a PhD in Arts and Humanities (Doctor of Philosophy, 2020) from the University of Sunderland, England, with a thesis titled Ubuntu manifest: Decolonising curatorial & research practice in ceramics. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and environmental sustainability. Formerly, she served as Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics (2001–present).
Research Focus: Her expertise spans art sustainability, decolonial curatorial practices, ceramics, and the intersection of art with wellbeing, healthy ageing, and participatory learning. She explores transition bioeconomy and art's role in societal transitions. She is currently accepting PhD students.
