Wendy Cadge is the President and Professor of Sociology at Bryn Mawr College, previously holding roles as Barbara Mandel Professor of Humanistic Social Sciences and Sociology Department Chair at Brandeis University. She specializes in contemporary American religion, religious diversity, healthcare chaplaincy, and immigration studies. She leads the Chaplaincy Innovation Lab and Transforming Chaplaincy Project, exploring modern religious practices in public institutions.
Education: Ph.D. and M.A. from Princeton University, B.A. from Swarthmore College. Awards include the Michael Walzer Teaching Excellence Award and Outstanding Colleague Award. Her research examines port chaplains, healthcare ethics, and chaplaincy workforce dynamics. Over 80 publications and $8M in research funding highlight her contributions to religious sociology and public health intersections.
