Her research integrates qualitative methodologies to co-design public health interventions, focusing on obesity prevention through programs like HENRY and community food system sustainability. Key projects include Fair Food Futures UK (examining emergency food aid prevention in multicultural communities) and CONNECTS Food (developing whole-school food approaches). Her work emphasizes real-world implementation within complex public health ecosystems and health equity.

These span implementation science, public health nutrition, and systems-based intervention design with strong translational focus.
Wendy accepts PhD students and leads NIHR PHR-funded projects including the HENRY III Trial (2022-2028) and Fair Food Futures UK (2023-2025), totaling over £2 million in research grants. She collaborates with multidisciplinary teams across public health, nutrition science, and community organizations.
As part of York's Public Health and Society research group, she contributes to the UK Implementation Society as a trustee, advancing methodological standards in implementation research.
