Wendy Andrews serves as an Affiliated Lecturer in the Faculty of Architecture and History of Art at the University of Cambridge and is Course Tutor for the Master of Studies (MSt) in Building History within the Department of Architecture.
Her academic credentials include:
- PhD in Architecture (2017, University of Cambridge) supervised by Professor James Campbell, focusing on 19th century wallpaper archives
- MSt in Building History (2011, University of Cambridge) as founding cohort member
Dr Andrews specializes in building history with deep expertise in wallpaper design and materials as critical evidence for understanding architectural evolution and heritage conservation. Her research bridges material culture studies with practical conservation methodologies, emphasizing how decorative surfaces inform historical building narratives. As an active committee member of the Wallpaper History Society, she contributes to advancing scholarly discourse in architectural conservation and heritage interpretation.
She has secured significant research commissions from Historic Royal Palaces and Historic England, alongside private sector clients, demonstrating applied impact in heritage management. Through her MSt course leadership and service on Cambridge Past, Present and Future's Heritage Watch advisory group, she actively shapes building history pedagogy and conservation policy while mentoring emerging professionals in the field.
