Dr. Wendy Andrews is an Assistant Professor in Organizational Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), affiliated with the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences and the Institute of Brain and Behavior Amsterdam (IBBA). She holds an MBA from IESE Business School and a PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Southampton. Her research focuses on hierarchy, leadership dynamics, and gender-related organizational issues, employing experimental, survey-based, and cognitive methodologies. She co-supervises four PhD students and two postdoctoral researchers, and leads the Amsterdam Leadership Lab as its Business Director.
Key contributions include the development of the SALT tool for determining optimal leadership styles, and research on dominance/prestige hierarchies, evolutionary psychology, and leadership preferences. Her work has been supported by grants from NWO, ESRC, and the Dutch government. Notable publications explore impostor phenomenon validation, male-biased sex ratios influencing leadership preferences, and ethical leadership assessment tools.
Dr. Andrews actively bridges academia and industry through collaborative projects, including a deepfake-based charisma training initiative. She participates in editorial roles and academic activities, emphasizing practical applications of research in organizational settings.
