Wen-Xing Ding, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology & Therapeutics at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Holding the William Warner Ambercrombie Professorship, he specializes in autophagy mechanisms in liver disease, mitochondrial quality control, and molecular toxicology.
Education:
- BM, Preventive Medicine, Shanghai Medical University (now Fudan University)
- MSc, Environmental Toxicology, Shanghai Medical University
- PhD, Molecular Toxicology, National University of Singapore
His research focuses on autophagy-mediated organelle homeostasis in hepatocytes, particularly how TFEB-regulated lysosomal biogenesis, PINK1-PARKIN mitophagy, and autophagy-independent secretory pathways protect against alcohol- and drug-induced liver injury. He has published over 170 peer-reviewed papers and secured research funding from NIAAA, NIDDK, and NIA.
Dr. Ding demonstrates leadership in academic service as Associate Editor for Autophagy, editorial board member for multiple journals, and organizer of key symposia at Experimental Biology and AASLD meetings. His lab has mentored nine graduate students, six postdoctoral fellows, and numerous international visiting scholars.
