Weiting Chao is an Associate Researcher at the Center for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE) at Sciences Po, Paris, where she also earned her PhD in International Relations. Her research centers on climate change governance, environmental policies, carbon markets, green finance, and environmental crimes.

Research Interests: Weiting Chao's work explores the political and economic dimensions of climate governance, with a focus on market-based mechanisms such as carbon trading and green finance. She investigates how financial speculation and non-state actors influence environmental policy outcomes, particularly within the context of global climate agreements. Her thesis, supervised by Professor Colin Hay, critically examines the over-reliance on market mechanisms in climate governance.
Professional Engagement: She has contributed to climate research at the Climate Change Research Center of National Taiwan University and participated in UN climate conferences COP19 (Warsaw, 2013) and COP21 (Paris, 2015). She authored a working paper on green finance in the building and construction sectors for the Sciences Po Urban School, highlighting sector-specific financial strategies for sustainability.
