Weihua Niu is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Pace University, affiliated with the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at the NYC campus. She has been a core faculty member since 2003, contributing extensively to teaching, research, and institutional development.
Dr. Niu earned her B.A. in Psychology from Beijing Normal University and her M.S. in Educational Psychology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She completed her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology at Yale University in 2003, where she also earned an MPhil in Psychology.
Her research is internationally recognized in the domains of creativity, cross-cultural psychology, educational testing, and comparative education. She has published over 30 articles in leading journals such as Review of Psychology, Journal of Creative Behavior, and Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts. She played a foundational role in establishing the Confucius Institute at Pace University and served as its first Director starting in 2009.
Dr. Niu has received numerous research honors, including multiple Scholarly Research and Provost Awards from Pace University, as well as prestigious awards from the American Psychological Association for her dissertation and international research excellence.

She actively mentors students through independent study and thesis supervision and contributes to the academic community through editorial and review services for journals including Journal of Creative Behavior, Learning & Individual Differences, and Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts, where she serves on the Editorial Review Board. She teaches a comprehensive range of courses in cognitive psychology, research methods, statistics, and critical thinking at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Niu is a key figure in advancing cross-cultural psychological research and educational collaboration at Pace University, particularly through her leadership in the Confucius Institute, fostering academic exchange between the U.S. and China.
