معرفی
Wei Zhang is a Professor at the Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences, College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Michigan State University, with joint appointment in the Environmental Science & Policy Program. He focuses on soil and water sustainability, contaminant transport, and environmental nanotechnology.
- Ph.D., Environmental Engineering, Cornell University (2010)
- M.S., Biosystems Engineering, Oklahoma State University (2006)
- B.S., Environmental Chemistry, Nanjing University (2000)
His research investigates the fate of emerging contaminants (antibiotics, nanoparticles, pathogens) in soils, integrating hydrology, soil physics, and microbiology to develop sustainable agricultural practices. Current work emphasizes antibiotic resistance, biochar applications, and contaminant transport mechanisms.
Recent publications explore biochar's impact on pharmaceuticals, nanoparticle interactions with pathogens, and antibiotic resistance gene dynamics. His lab employs advanced environmental modeling and experimental techniques.
Scientific Awards
- USDA New Investigator Award (2013)
- National Research Council Research Associateship (2010–2011)
- Cornell Liu Memorial Award (2009)
- MSU Academy for Global Engagement Fellowship (2015)
Zhang's lab has secured significant USDA grants, including a $750K grant for PFAS mitigation and a $611K grant for heavy metal research. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Environmental Quality and Canadian Journal of Soil Science.
